Black and White Swedish Home

What i really love is how they have incorporated the black and white into all of the childrens spaces. It flows so effortlessly through each room of this home. Just sensational!

And the amazing storage and organisation! Love all the baskets. I recognise a few things from my own home too!

acanteen

We have this little place in Essex not too far from us that is awesome. It's simplicity is it's success but the food is to die for. It's one of those places that's perfect for the kids, or a brunch with friends or just for sitting quietly on your own with a paper. That's what i did this week and couldn't help taking 'less than perfect' iphone pics just to show you. We should have more places like this. Not chains but little independents, doing their thing and doing it really well. If you are ever in my neck of the woods. It's worth a trip.

I just love the story wall. So if you are on your own and there is no papers free, you can just read the story on the wall instead. Genius!
So i ate so quickly and forgot to take a photo of the actual food. I choose a combination salad which you can pick from a selection in front of you. Butternut squash, tuna and bean and a Greek little number. I could have eaten it for the next two weeks it was so delicious!

FAVOURITE BLOG FRIDAY: House of Philia

At this very moment, if i could make a favourite of all my favourites, this would be it.

m

So this week Benita introduced me to some of her favourite Swedish blogs...in Swedish. House of Philia was the first one i looked at and i didn't stop looking until i had reached the very beginning. Enough said. (Probably less time consuming because i couldn't actually read the words, although i did stop to Google translate a fair few sections! P.S I love you google translate! xx)

With this blog i could have made 20 posts! She's got 3 kids and keeps her house so stylish and beautiful still.  A new favourite for you too perhaps?

Robbie Williams and Ayda Fields

Surprise wedding at home with beautiful simplicity and style. Ooh and lots of black and white too. And you have to ask why i loved this?

I would love her bedroom/dressing room. Those curtains! Drool.

Great house, great wedding.
Sorry about the dodgy pics. Go and buy a copy of Hello if you want to see more.

A short note on black and white from Apartment Therapy

A Short Note on Black and White

14817_kristina-stark_06_86118782.jpg

Thought both black and white do not count as proper colors (black is all colors and white is the absence of color), they do have warm and cool properties, which are sometimes surprising to people, but are very important to know when using them:

White is cool.
Black is warm.

Therefore, remember that when you paint a room straight white, it is going to tend to be cold, and will need a lot of color or other warm elements to make it physically comfortable, whereas black is instantly warm and needs to be used sparingly so that it doesn't overwhelm. A little black will go a long way.

What great advice. I totally needed to have read this before i painted my bedroom pure brilliant white only to have to repaint it in sail white 2 days later!

Ok so some of these aren't strictly lounges but you get my drift. We are budget tight tight tight at the moment and time even tighter so not sure when we will be able to do this little project but at the moment it feels like an itch i need to scratch!
