Copy Cats

They always want to put on my make up. It just occurred to me that they are never up in time to watch Mr C. shave before he is gone for the day. He rarely shaves at weekends. They were in heaven copying Daddy for a change.

P.S. No children were harmed during the taking of these photos! This was a razor without the razor bit they were 'playing' with!

Maybe i'm wrong?

Just thinking...about my last post.

Just reading...this. It's beautiful, emotional and if you start reading now you might not stop.

Maybe remembering the people in your past should always be a special experience and you should try your hardest to share their love in whichever way necessary even though they are not here to do it for themselves.

Love you Mum and Dad. Will try harder to share your memory, share your love with them.

Thanks Eden. x

Sometimes it's hard.

Sometimes its hard to understand that our kids will never truly appreciate our past and the people in them. Sometimes it's hard missing people who used to be there, people you wish they could have known. Sometimes its hard not to shout and scream at their simple mistakes, even if that mistake to you is unimaginable.

Today she was looking in the mirror, looking at the photos. It is a mirrored frame. My grandmother and two photobooth shots. One of my mother, one of my aunt. She was sitting next to me.
I don't know what happened but when i turned to speak to her two of the pictures were gone, erased forever, irreplaceable. She had been cleaning the frame, somehow took the pictures out of the holes and wiped them. Wiped away the images.

I wanted to shake her, to shout 'what have you done?' but i knew she wouldn't truly know the answer.
I wanted to say 'that was my mum. I can never get that photo back.' but i didn't.
When she saw my face she started to cry. I think i had tears in my eyes already. I just said. 'It's not your fault, mummy shouldn't have let you play with it.' And that was the truth.

It was mothers day on Sunday. She had seen a gold bag i had used a few days earlier. She wanted to play. I told her it belonged to my mum and it was special and put it away. She asked if we could go and see her one day in people heaven. This was hard.

Sometimes its hard. She erased a photo, a life, a precious memory and it meant nothing to her. She will never know her, love her, miss her. Then i feel sad that i never really got to know her either.

I've thought about the photo. It was a memory of who she was when she was young. I will never know the answer. I will soon not be able to remember what she looked like in that photo. But i will know my daughter, I will remember what she looked like.

Sometimes its hard but i'd rather think about the people who are still here anyway. The happiness from those who love you will always outweigh the sadness of the past.

Style choice: Floral, spots or stripes?

Which do you gravitate towards or is it a combination?

This weekend i'm going to try this...

It's mother's day here in England on Sunday. Perfect excuse to thank my kids for making me a mother. My favourite ever title. Mummy, mama...my favourite ever name.
I might skip the movie in my pyjamas...unless it's watching at home though!

Thanks to LizeyLou for the wonderful inspiration. x

Copenhagen dreaming at LMNOP

So excited to see LMNOP do a section on Copenhagen for kids this issue. It's my next travel to do spot with the kidlets when no.3 has arrived.  Just got to love the lego name wall at the Louisiana Museum.

This issue of the Australian kid friendly magazine is fabulous if you haven't already checked it.
This map and stickers is just gorgeous.

And if you have never checked it out...you've got 14 issues of loveliness to look over! Have fun!

Grey Nursery love

Fallen in love with this nursery...and this blog i've just discovered. OOh and she has an etsy shop too with some of her gorgeousness. Michelle...thanks for the new blog crush! xx
Found via 6th Street Design School.

Not sure if we are going to be doing the whole nursery thing this time around. The other two share a room and we were thinking of putting the bambino next door to us in our dressing room for a year or so with just a cot and a little chest of drawers to save us transforming our large spare room just for the bambino, until we decide who shares where. BUT i'd still love to make a special area. After seeing this it's hard not to think what you could do with a little paint and bit of art!

Under the Sea

A certain brand new 4 year old became a mermaid for the day. Happy Birthday Beautiful Girl.
Er, not you Barbs...

Starting to think i overdid it on the Caribbean blue!

Now don't look too closely. I made it!
Homemade mermaid bookmarks and cut and colour sheets. Got to love a handmade goody bag!
Unfortunately, i have time management issues and lots of the photos are an after thought. So no pictures of beautifully set rooms or the sea caves before all the kids wrecked it! I hope other people forget to take pictures at their kids parties too!
